The Mercedes Manchester Taxi

At no less than 524,000 miles recorded (It has probably covered even more miles) this classic mercedes car has had the hardest life any car can ever be subjected to. Originally the chauffer driven transport of Sven Ericsson when new - it covered a very high mileage in the first year after which it went into full time taxi work in and around Manchester until we bought it.

True, it looks as though it has just done a tour of Beruit where it had been used for bomb-practice - badly scratched and generally abused and poorly repaired, the drivers side carpet and seat bolster are worn however, despite it still being the original engine and gearbox to which we were told by the prevoius owner, neither have had any work to other than regular oil changes and two or three clutches, this car drives very well, in fact better we would say, than many non-Mercedes cars that have covered a fifth of this mileage.

We bought this car to use as a pool car purely to demonstrate to our customers what these fantastic German-built Mercedes are capable of. We think that is was a shame that we had not stumbled across the vendor six months prior who then dispposed af a Mercedes-Benz 190D 2.5 with 1,005,000 miles that he had owned and used for his taxi business since it was two years old. He said that this car too drove very well and had needed no major mechanical work during it's life.
